Description

The Liberation of Philippines Medal is a distinguished recognition given to honor the exceptional service and bravery of military personnel who participated in the campaign to liberate the Philippines from Japanese control during World War II. This medal serves as an enduring testament to their remarkable dedication and valiant efforts from October 17, 1944, to September 2, 1945.

Eligibility for the Liberation of Philippines Medal requires the following:

  • Active service in the United States Armed Forces, Philippine Commonwealth Military, Recognized Guerilla Units, or the Military Forces of the Associated Allies during the specified period

This striking 36-millimeter-diameter medal is designed in bronze. The obverse features the inscription "LIBERATION OF THE PHILIPPINES" along with a depiction of a mythical female figure, representing the spirit of freedom, breaking the chains of oppression. On the reverse, the Philippine sun from the national flag is prominently displayed, encircled by the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1944-1945".

The accompanying ribbon, 35 millimeters wide, is a vibrant blue with two red stripes towards the edges and white stripes on the inner side of the red stripes, symbolizing the colors of the Philippines' flag.
