The Natal Native Rebellion Medal 1906 was awarded to members of the military and police forces who served during the suppression of the Bambatha Rebellion in the Colony of Natal, South Africa. The rebellion, led by Chief Bambatha kaMancinza, arose in response to colonial taxation and forced labour policies, resulting in several months of armed conflict.
Awarded to officers and men of the Natal military forces, colonial troops, and local police who participated in operations between February and July 1906. Service requirements included being on active duty within the designated operational area during the period of the uprising.
The silver medal features the crowned effigy of King Edward VII on the obverse with the legend EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR. The reverse depicts a scene of a mounted Natal Carbineer holding a rifle, advancing across open ground, with the inscription NATAL above and the year 1906 below.
The ribbon consists of a central red stripe flanked by black and white stripes on each side, symbolising the conflict and the colonial forces' role in the campaign.
SPECIFICATIONS:If you order your medal unmounted, the medal and ribbon will be supplied as separate components. Miniature medals will be supplied with 15cm of ribbon and full size medals will be supplied with 30cm of ribbon.
